Four-wheel steering in 911 GT3

Porsche has heralded in the 50th anniversary of the 911 with a new 350kW fifth-generation GT3 boasting a number of key innovations, including an electronically controlled four-wheel steering system for the first time.

Pictured here in a series of official photographs for the first time following an unveiling at a media presentation prior to tonight's (NZ time) Geneva motor show, Porsche's latest road legal racer will be available in New Zealand later this year in limited numbers. Pricing has not yet been finalised.

The new race-bred coupe, once again developed in an engineering program between Porsche's road car and race car operations and set to be offered in GT3 Cup form ready for motorsport activities complete with roll cage and other mandatory features, is distinguished from other recent 991-series 911 models by a series of functional exterior design elements.

Included is deep new front bumper with integrated daytime running lights, a trio of large air ducts to increase the cooling capacity of the front mounted radiators, an  outlet ahead of the bonnet to reduce air pressure and smooth airflow over the car and a prominent splitter element to help increase downforce. It also receives new exterior mirrors mounted on the doors as well as a subtle sill element beneath the doors.
